Terms & Conditions
These terms apply to all electrical work carried out by Smart Electrical Cheshire unless agreed otherwise in writing.
1. Quotations
Quotes are valid for 30 days from issue. Any variation to the scope discussed, materials, or site conditions may require a revised quote. Verbal estimates are indicative only — a written quote is the binding figure.
2. Payments
For larger works a deposit may be required prior to commencement. Final balances are due within 7 days of completion unless otherwise agreed. Late payments may incur interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
3. Cancellations
You may cancel a booked job free of charge up to 48 hours before the agreed start date. Cancellations made inside 48 hours may incur a charge to cover materials ordered or scheduled labour.
4. Workmanship & Warranty
All work is carried out to current BS 7671 standards by qualified electricians. Workmanship is warranted for 12 months from the completion date. Manufacturer warranties apply to supplied equipment. The warranty does not cover damage caused by misuse, third-party alteration, or normal wear and tear.
5. Materials
Materials and equipment supplied by us remain our property until paid for in full.
6. Liability
We carry full public liability insurance. Our liability for any claim is limited to the value of the work carried out, except where liability cannot be limited by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence).
7. Customer responsibilities
- Provide safe, reasonable access to the property at the agreed times.
- Disclose known issues with the installation (previous faults, hidden cabling, etc.).
- Make decisions on positioning of accessories and fittings in good time.
- Settle invoices within the agreed terms.
8. Certification
Notifiable work is registered with the relevant building control body and a NICEIC certificate is issued on payment in full. Certificates are emailed as PDFs unless paper copies are requested.
9. Complaints
If you're not happy with any aspect of our work, please contact Martin directly at martinedwards193@gmail.com in the first instance. As a NICEIC-registered business, you also have access to the NICEIC complaints procedure.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
